Some of my friends have cautioned me against posting a situation wanted posting on my own blog.  But I will do so for two reasons—one is to see if anyone who likes what they read here would like to engage me in putting this stuff into practice, and the other is to be clear about a change of orientation which may color what I post.

CommsOffensive325 has never been about selling services.  But my services are very likely to become available after 1 July and I’d like you to know about what I’m looking for.  (In terms of what I’ve done—I’ll leave that to my resume/cv which I will be happy to send upon request).

What I have to offer:  I offer a consistent approach to organisational commmunication that is built fundamentally on one idea—an appreciation of each individual receiving that communication to choose to accept, dispute, reject, query, acclaim and recirculate any element of that communication.  I’ve delivered that approach, to the best of that ability and to the extent local communication cultures accepted it, on a consulting basis and as embedded interim support to over a dozen blue-chip organisations in Europe and the US.  I’ve “competently” (using the term in the Fitzpatrick/Dewhurst sense) deployed that approach using and managing a full suite of communication tools and interventions, and have facilitated managers and senior staff to inject this approach into their face-to-face conversations.

Beyond this approach, I have considerable passion for organisational communication.  I wouldn’t be writing essay-length blog postings on fairly original subjects twice monthly, along with being a national and regional IABC board member, a rare European member of the Council of Communication Management, and an active participant in the internal and external debate over the future of our industry if my interest was less than comprehensive.

I have some flexibility in terms of a next step.  A senior in-house role could offer some long-term opportunities.  Joining a communications firm could have possibilities, and build on my previous experience with Smythe Dorward Lambert.  A good freelance project could allow me to dive in and get immersed in something substantial.  And a good interim assignment with appropriate discretion could allow me to leave some impact.

As for geography—I want to keep my base on this side of the Atlantic, but projects further afield could merit consideration.
